1.1 Biography

Mr. Suppachai Sinthaworn was awarded the best undergraduate student of civil engineering in 1999 by faculty of engineering, Srinakharinwirot University. After that, he received his B.Eng. in Civil Engineering in 2000. In 2001, Acting Sub Lt. Suppachai Sinthaworn got the scholarship for master-doctoral degree from the Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Thailand. Consequently, he achieved M.Eng. in Civil Engineering (Kasetsart University, 2003) and became an instructor at Department of Civil Engineering.  After one year of teaching, he left to continually study at Asian Institute of Technology and in 2009, he obtained his D.Eng. in Structural Engineering.

Dr. Suppachai Sinthaworn has been teaching graduate and undergraduate courses on materials testing, concrete technology, structural analysis (classical method, matrix method, and finite element), structural design (i.e. reinforce concrete design, timber & steel design, prestressed concrete design), and structural repair and strengthening. In 2011, he served as the Associate Head of Department of Civil Engineering. He has been the committee of curriculum of the bachelor and master of civil engineering of Srinakharinwirot University. Between 2014 and 2015, he got the scholarship from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for training in “Seismology, Earthquake Engineering and Disaster-Recovery Management Policy & Tsunami Disaster Mitigation Course”. In this period, he was trained and studied at International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (IISEE), Building Research Institute (BRI), Tsukuba, Japan and National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo, Japan and also made a research in “Hysteresis Response of Prestressed Concrete” at the Structural Engineering Laboratory of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. After this training, he also taught a course for fundamental of disaster management.

Acting Sub Lt. Suppachai Sinthaworn got the best paper award in 42nd Kasetsart University annual conference (2004). In 2013, Dr. Sinthaworn served as a Session Chair for Hong Kong International Conference on Engineering and Applied Science (HKICEAS2012), held in Hong Kong, China. In 2016, he also served as a Session Chair for International Congress on Engineering and Information (ICEAI), held in Osaka, Japan.  He was awarded as The Best Oral Presentation In the presentation of International Conference on Materials Technology and Applications 2016 (ICMTA2016), Singapore. He also served as a Conference Committee: Technical Chair, reviewer: 19th International Conference on Material and Manufacturing Technology (ICMMT 2017) – May 4-6, 2016 in Singapore, organized by American Society for Research (ASR). He has served as a reviewer of several Journals and conferences. Currently, he is the head of research unit in Sustainable Innovation in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Dr. Sinthaworn has been serving as advisor for student activity (i.e. Asia Bridge Competition, Steel Bridge Competition, high strength concrete Competition, light weight concrete competition, and also volunteer camp). His students obtained many awards which are the most light lightweight concrete in 4th Lightweight Concrete Competition (2010) , the winner of 5th  Lightweight Concrete Competition (2011),  the 1st runner up of performance award of the Asian Bridge Competition (BRICOM 2010), the 1st consolidation of performance award (2011), the honorable mention Performance award (2012), the 1st runner up of construction cost award (2014), the 1st  runner up of construction cost award and 1st runner up of total cost award (2016), the 2nd runner up of 11th Thailand ‘s high strength concrete competition (2010), etc.
